Animania Festival is proud to host the World Cosplay Summit Preliminary Competition again in 2010!

 

The World Cosplay Summit (WCS) is an international level Cosplay competition held annually in Nagoya, Japan, and hosted by TV Aichi. The competition brings together contestants from all over the globe to showcase their prize-winning costumes.

The Preliminary

2010 brings a fresh new year of WCS Preliminary Cosplay. With already 2 teams selected in Adelaide last October, the remaining 3 rounds of preselections will be held at each of the Day Festivals to be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, culminating in the official WCS Preliminary itself at the Animania Festival Weekend in September. The winning Duo will get the chance to present their costume at the 2011 World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan, competing against the world's best Cosplayers.

Animania Festival will also host its own traditional Cosplay Competition seperate to the WCS Preliminary. Entrants cannot enter with the same costumes in both events.

Individuals wishing to enter either or both competitions must indicate this when they register online. Once registered, they will be informed by email if they qualify for the competition (at least 1 week before the event).

Portfolio Submission

All entrants intending to compete in the WCS Preliminary and Preselections MUST pre-register their entry by submitting their competition portfolios 3 weeks prior to the Festival. Details on how portfolios should look and where to send them can be found outlined in the rules.

Pre-registration is necessary to ensure a fabulous, on-time show and also saves time and hassle by sorting out all the paperwork before hand! It also allows time for the judges to properly absorb the submitted portfolios and learn more about each Duo's entry and efforts.

Submission deadlines are as follows:

WCS Preselection ROUND 1 (Animania Festival Adelaide October 2009)
Submission Deadline: Not applicable. Event completed, 2 teams selected - Finalist Profiles

WCS Preselection ROUND 2 (Animania Festival Sydney 20th March 2010)
Submission Deadline: 26th February, 2010

WCS Preselection ROUND 3 (Animania Festival Melbourne 10th April 2010)
Submission Deadline: 19th March, 2010

WCS Preselection ROUND 4 (Animania Festival Brisbane 1st May)
Submission Deadline: 9th April, 2010

ROUND 1-4 Finalists' Portfolio (for Animania Festival Weekend, Sydney 11-12th September)
Preselection finalists must submit a second portfolio detailing their second costume. Please note there will not be a preselection event at the Animania Festival Weekend, only the Preliminary Final.
